They are not a cost reduction strategy

Steve Pastor said it cleanly. The companies that hire well abroad are not shopping for cheaper people. They are shopping for operators.

Steve Pastor said the line that belongs on the door:

“They are not a cost reduction strategy. They are skilled professionals.”

The payroll is lower. That is true. It is also the least interesting true thing about a Manila EA or a Mexico City SDR. If you hire for the discount, you get a discount. If you hire for the work, you get the work, and the discount comes along because the market is the market.

The bar does not move

We filter for written English, work samples, and the thing they will own by week four. Most people never reach you. You meet three. That is the product. The country is how we find them, not an excuse to lower the seat.

Two clocks, one standard

The Philippines is a long-term remote market: English as a working language, overnight coverage, a bench that can actually scale. Mexico is nearshore in the useful sense, same afternoon as Dallas, bilingual when the customer is on the phone.

Neither is a loophole. Both are labor markets with professionals in them.
